      Job summary

      We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and flexible Band A Dentist with experience within NHS general dental practice and of providing specialist care in a community dental setting to join our existing teams within our Personal Dental Service at Vauxhall Health Centre and our Community Dental Service within Sefton.

      The successful applicant will be part of a Personal Dental Services team providing high quality general dental care in our four surgery practice at Vauxhall and will be expected to achieve a UDA target within the framework of a salaried position. Whilst working in our Community Dental Team, you will be providing a comprehensive dental service for adults and children whose dental needs cannot be met within general dental practice, providing a full range of preventative dental care and treatment to patients. Experience of providing specialist care in a community setting is required, preferably within Adults Special Care.

      You will be supported by an experienced Dental team including senior dentists, therapists, dental nurses and receptionists.

      Full GDC registration and NHS performer number are essential for this post. Applications from candidates who are not able to confirm their GDC registration and performer number will be rejected.

      Main duties of the job

      Dentist Vauxhall Personal Dental Service - The Personal Dental Services (PDS) Dentist is responsible for the provision of NHS primary care dental services for the population in the areas designated under the Personal Dental Service contracting arrangement

      Dentist Community Dental Service - The post holder will be part of a team providing comprehensive dental services for individuals requiring special care and other priority groups. The post holder is an employee of the Trust Community Dental Service (CDS) and is responsible for the provision of dental care and treatment for priority groups of patients in Knowsley, Liverpool and Sefton.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • A Primary Dental Qualification registerable with the General Dental Council of the United Kingdom: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS / BChD) or equivalent.
      • Full registration with General Dental Council.
      • Eligibility for inclusion on the NHS Performers List.

      Desirable

      • Further qualification in Special Care or other relevant subject.
      • Vocational Training or General Professional Training certificate, equivalence or exemption from Vocational Training.

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of delivering GDS and/or Community Dental Services in an NHS setting , working with UDA based contracts
      • Experience of working as part of a team including supervisory role at an appropriate level.
      • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of a full range of NHS dental services.
      • Able to maintain reasonable activity levels.
      • Experience of working with a wide range of patient groups, including those individuals requiring special care dentistry.
      • Evidence of good dental record keeping.
      • Able to demonstrate relevant experience in Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance and Audit/Participation in a multi-disciplinary team
