- Fulfill instructional objectives at the assigned school.
- Fulfill, in cooperation and oversight with the Director of Bands, instruction and performance of all band students at the assigned school. The ensembles of the school will perform in all of the required yearly performances as identified in the District Five Bands Performance Requirements, unless excused by the principal.
- Fulfill, in cooperation with the Director of Bands, recruiting and retention of all band students at the assigned school.
- Attend monthly band staff meetings.
- Maintain all appropriate professional memberships and affiliations purchased by the district**, (NAfME, SCMEA, SCBDA) This includes attending association meetings and participating in association business.
- Administration of the local band budget at the assigned school, with oversight from the administration and District Director of Fine Arts.
- Administer District Five School-Owned instrument and equipment Inventories at the school. Repair or coordinate repairs of any District Five equipment and instruments.
- Present him/herself at all times as an advocate for District Five Schools in general and the arts program in particular.
- Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license with proper certification to operate vehicles transporting students. Once obtained, the director will only drive his or her own students and ensembles. (This requirement may be waived in certain situations at the discretion of the school principal.)
- Perform any and all duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications:
Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate
Minimum of Five Years Experience
Experience Leading a Middle School Band Program (Preferred)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provide musical instruction for students and present them in performance as part of that instruction.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
