- Our Intensive Care Unit is a purpose built 48-bedded unit in one of the UK's first £450 million super-hospitals, based within our award-winning Brunel building and achieving excellent outcomes including some of the highest trauma survival rates in the country.
- Our Intensive Care Unit is within a Major Trauma Centre, providing regional care for major trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, surgery, renal transplants, burns and plastic surgery, as well as complex elective surgery and medical patients.
- Taking personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust and local policies and procedures are known and followed and ensuring duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practice set out in the NMC code.
- Being responsible for assessment, planning, Implementation and Evaluation of patient care.
- Taking responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including health care assistants and students as required.
- Hold RN (Adult) Registration with current NMC license to practice.
- Have completed Step 1 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses
- Have recent acute hospital experience within the last 18-24 months, including experience working in an Intensive Care Unit.
- Have a drive to work hard, enthusiasm and the ability to commit to a two week induction programme if successful.
- Have right to work in the UK (with relevant Adaptation/ONP if applicable).
- RGN with current live NMC Registration
- Completion of Step 1 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses
- 1 years relevant experience in an acute environment
- Holds a teaching and assessing qualification (998 or equivalent)
- Candidate will have undertaken training for extended roles required by the ward / department. i.e. IV drug administration, Cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, male catheterisation, PCA, Epidural training, Tracheostomy and Central Line Competencies.
- Candidate will have been working in a hospital setting within the last 2 years, as a Registered Nurse
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Basic computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service i.e. IHS, Acis, Email use.
- Advanced communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping.
- Evidence of broad acute experience
