      Job summary

      We are looking for experienced and flexible Medical Secretary's to support our Consultant located within the Hospital.

      Main duties of the job

      You would responsible for providing an efficient administrative support to the department and Consultant on a daily basis and provide an efficient secretarial support to consultant(s) and to work closely with all internal / external departments to help deliver the exceptional service to patients. To ensure that all Hospital policies and procedures are upheld and maintained at all times.

      What are the Responsibilities of this Medical Secretaryrole?

      • Ensuring the timely processing of all patient related information, including clinic letters, reports, referrals, appointments, admissions, and all , general enquiries.
      • Ensuring that all correspondence is handled within the required timeframes.
      • To be responsible for booking all appointments and co ordinate theatre bookings as required.
      • Handling any outstanding invoices for patients, insurers or third parties to ensure prompt payment.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Am I the right person for this Medical Secretaryrole?
      • Well established numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent, at grade C or above in Mathematics and English)
      • Typing or word processing qualification at RSA II (or equivalent)
      • AMSPAR Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
      • NVQ at level 3 or above in Business Administration (or equivalent)
      • Substantive secretarial experience working in a healthcare environment
      • Demonstrable experience of clerical work involving computerised systems
      • Demonstrable knowledge of medical terminology
      • Demonstrable experience of using audio transcription systems
      • Demonstrate experience of managing consultants accounts
      • Demonstrate knowledge of private medical insurers i.e. authorisations, coding & billing
      • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of windows based computer systems and be capable of using most Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word and Outlook
      • Demonstrate ability to pay good attention to detail, reliably check and record data and identify anomalies and be able to self-check completed work
