- Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care.
- Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care. Informs the nurse in charge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care.

- Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
- Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients.

- Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.
- To develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes.
- To undertake expanded practice, under supervision, in order to optimise patient care and in accordance with ward/department and Trust policies.
- Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivering of care.
- Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department multidisciplinary team.

- Diploma in Nursing
- Mentorship/teaching qualification
- Post registration qualification in relevant specialty
- Dialysis Experience
- Post registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies
- Experience within relevant clinical setting
- Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment
- Evidence of working with students
- Recent acute hospital experience (including as a student nurse)
- Dialysis experience

Job summary
Do you have experience working in renal dialysis? Do you want to update your dialysis experience and earn extra income? Liverpool University Hospitals are looking for nurses with previous dialysis experience to join the nurse bank.
You will be supported in updating dialysis competency knowledge and skills and have an opportunity to earn extra income, or the flexibility of working primarily on the nurse bank.
Liverpool University Hospitals has satellite dialysis units at Aintree, Waterloo, Southport, Broadgreen, St Helens, Warrington and Halton hospitals and a dialysis unit on the Lower Ground Floor of the New Royal Liverpool hospital.
Main duties of the job
You will be supported in updating dialysis competency knowledge and skills and have an opportunity to earn extra income, or the flexibility of working primarily on the nurse bank.
There are opportunities to cover shifts, via the nurse bank, at all the satellite locations. The units are open Monday - Saturday and in addition to morning and afternoon dialysis treatment sessions Aintree, Southport, Waterloo, St Helens, Broadgreen and New Royal dialysis units have a twilight shift.
Currently there are a small number of nurses with dialysis experience on the nurse bank and we wish to expand the number of dialysis trained nurses.
You can choose to cover shifts in a specific dialysis.
