      Job summary

      Vacancies have arisen for Banksman to join the busy Logistics Dept at QA Hospital.

      0600 to 1800 Mon to Sun (4on 4off)

      Logistics provide a comprehensive service to all areas within the Queen Alexandra estate, ensuring that Receipt and Distribution service is maintained to a high standard.

      Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential qualities required.

      This post is monthly paid, and a uniform is supplied. You will receive a first-class training package, which incorporates on and off the job training with the use of large machinery, a generous annual leave entitlement and the opportunity to join the NHS pension scheme.

      Main duties of the job

      To assist in providing both Patients, Staff and Visitors with a safe environment to receive and operative deliveries, by assisting with the management of vehicles within the Receipt and Distribution Department. In addition contributing to the operational and cleanliness of the department/area, and associated equipment in a Hospital/Healthcare setting, whilst working closely with ward/department staff to ensure high quality service provision.

      Job responsibilities

      The Banksman is tasked with various responsibilities that ensure efficient and safe operations in environments

      with heavy vehicle traffic. These responsibilities include:

      • Directing the movement of vehicles using standardised hand signals or verbal communication.
      • Conducting dynamic risk assessments of designated areas to identify potential hazards to vehicular movement.
      • Ensuring all drivers follow the site safety protocols.
      • Coordinating with site managers and other operational staff to facilitate orderly movements and logistics handling.
      • Reporting any incidents or breaches of safety.
      • Inspecting and monitoring access points and traffic control equipment to ensure functionality.
      • Proactively and positively contribute to the achievement of deliverables through individual and team effort. Manage the production of the required deliverables and control risks,
      • Support team members to deliver on their functionally relevant objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
      • Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the shared services as required
