      This is a part-time position located in the Sales and Catering Department at The Guest House at Graceland with variable/flexible working hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime as required. This is a promotional opportunity and is an

      internal/external recruitment.

      Job Description:

      This position will work in the Banquet Department which handles over 80,000 square feet of event and meeting space at The Guest House at Graceland and Elvis Presley’s Memphis. The banquet bartender is responsible for creating positive and efficient customer experience by taking orders, mixing drinks, and managing the banquet bar area. You will be the warm and knowledgeable ambassador of the hotel, welcoming guests into the event space and providing exceptional service throughout the event experience.

      The banquet bartender will be responsible for setting their bar, mixing, and serving a variety of alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks to all guests according to recipes and customer requests with professional manners while maintaining a positive attitude and always delivering superior guest service. Performs other duties as requested.

      ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

      • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
      • Able to read and understand a BEO with all the details and notes.
      • Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for banquet events.
      • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
      • Assess guests’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
      • Check guests’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age.
      • Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
      • Keep an eye on patron intoxication levels and respond appropriately.
      • Always maintain positive guest relations.
      • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
      • Identify difficult situations and work with management when needed to maintain a safe environment.
      • Clean the bar and the surrounding area of spills and other messes as needed.
      • Demonstrate outstanding hospitality and service throughout the banquet events with guests.
      • Demonstrate teamwork.
      • Use Point of Sales and adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
      • Completes opening duties, shift, and closing duties.
      • Follows all sanitation and safety policies.
      • Maintains the bar ensuring it remains stocked throughout the event.
      • Prepare all bases and garnishes for alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
      • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
      • Maintains a safe working environment and report any safety issues to management immediately.
      • Advises Banquet Operations Manager/Director of Events/General Manager/Regional Director of any non-routine situations.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :

      • Knowledge of Memphis and Shelby County health codes; must have a current valid ABC license from the State of TN; proven experience as a bartender is preferred.
      • Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
      • Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance; outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Must be able to handle fast paced business.
      • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
      • Basic math and computer skills; ability to work quickly and accurately under constant pressure of often conflicting deadlines and numerous interruptions; ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Reading skills to understand and interpret regulations, policies, and procedures.
      • Ability to put out stock as directed by manager and captain (supervisor)
      • Ability to work and maintain a safe work area; ability to follow operating procedures on equipment in a safe manner.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stop, reach, walk and stand for long periods; ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25lbs; speak clearly and distinctly.

      SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Uniform is required; must follow and have knowledge of health codes and requirements.

      CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work flexible hours, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required; ability to maintain confidentiality; no smoking or eating in the work area.

      Qualification Standards:

      Education: High school or equivalent education required.

      Experience: Prior Bartender experience preferred.

      Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per company standards
