      Job Description

      Position: Barber

      Unit: Cedar Valley Lodge, Kitimat

      Rotation: 14 days in/ 7 days out

      Wage: $28.09 per hour

      Scope

      As a member of our services team, you will always provide the highest quality of customer service, while working for Sodexo. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position.

      Primary Responsibilities

      • Welcoming clients and consulting with them on their instructions or preferences.
      • Cutting and trimming hair according to clients' instructions using clippers, comb, hair dryer and scissors.
      • Styling hair using chemical solutions and styling tools.
      • Shaving, trimming, and shaping clients’ beards and mustaches.
      • Ensuring that combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each use.
      • Providing hairstyle suggestions to clients and up to date on current trends
      • Uses Point-Of-Sale system for taking payments and refunds.
      • Cleans and disinfects all work area and work tools.
      • Orders supplies and takes inventory.
      • May sell and promote hair supplies, lotions, tonics, or other cosmetics.
      • Takes guest bookings and maintains an orderly work schedule
      • Organizes shift schedules in collaboration with Retail Managers
      • May train and supervise other barbers and barber apprentices.
      • Maintain a designated space separate from client supplies for storing personal items belonging to operators (e.g., food, medication, clothing and cosmetic/personal grooming items).
      • Conducts Toolbox Safety Talks
      • Completes audits and daily area inspections of all Work areas in collaboration with Sodexo Managers
      • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards alongside BC Health Guidelines for Personal Service establishments.
      • Takes pride in personal appearance and follows site grooming guidelines and dress code.
      • Perform all other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by a manager
      • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
      • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
      • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
      • Takes pride in personal appearance and follows Sodexo grooming guidelines and dress code.
      • Attends all shifts at the posted schedule times.
      • Adhere to site travel policies including airport check-in times and Sodexo flight no-show policy.
      • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with strict adherence to the Sodexo anti-bullying and harassment policies.

      Qualifications

      Competencies

      • Minimum 2 years’ of Barber experience
      • Completion of secondary school education is required or equivalent barber certification/program or Red Seal
      • Experience in a camp setting is an asset
      • Must be able to exert physical effort in walking, lifting, bending and transporting goods using a cart or other equipment
      • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
      • Ability to stand for long periods
      • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
      • Must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items up to 50lbs
      • Must undergo and pass a medical exam prior to starting work
      • Must have good attendance and disciplinary record
      • Valid Driver’s License an asset
