Barclays Europe Head of Valuation Control
Paris, France
As a Barclays European Head of Valuation Control, you will have an exciting opportunity to ensure the effective execution and design of valuation controls for Barclays Europe’s trading positions and other fair valued portfolios. In your role, you will be partnering with other control teams in Barclays Europe, including regular contact with Barclays Europe trading desk supervisors and market risk managers, as well as with the Product Control teams located outside of Europe in London, Chennai, New York.We’re building a truly European bank with the support of one of the world’s largest and most respected financial institutions. • Being the Finance point of contact for valuation related matters within Barclays Europe
• Collaborating with senior management and traders on valuation controls, challenge the valuation approach and trader marks for positions and deliver insight for Barclays Europe
• Ensuring that all control, audit, and governance requirements are met in the design and operation of valuation controls for Barclays Europe by engaging with control and audit teams
• Managing the valuation control aspects of Barclays Europe’s regulatory engagements and interactions
• Delivering regular updates on Barclays Europe valuation related matters to the Barclays Europe board and to Barclays Group senior management
• Challenging trading desks and trading supervisors on valuation matters constructively
• Building effective partnerships with senior stakeholders by delivering regular updates on valuation controls to the Barclays Europe Board, CFO, Controller, and other senior leaders
• Partnering with the global Product Control teams (especially those located in London, New York, and Chennai) to ensure a smooth and seamless delivery of controlsWhat we’re looking for:
• Previous experience in financial services function at a top tier organisation
• Broad knowledge of markets and financial products
• An understanding of the IFRS accounting rules relating to fair value

• Experience of working collaboratively in teams across multiple business areas, functions, and locations
