      Job summary

      ESNEFT is starting a new Weight Management Service which will deliver bariatric/metabolic surgery, endoscopic and medical weight management treatments to the Suffolk and North Essex population. We are recruiting Bariatric Psychologists to develop and deliver this new service and would invite applications from all types of psychology practitioners (clinical, counselling or health) interested in joining our service. We are open to recruiting at various bands between 7 and 8c

      These posts are available full/part time and options for flexible working hours and remote working will be considered. Not all bands below will be recruited to, but we will discuss appropriate banding, hours and career progression/goals with each candidate and look to build an effective team within the available funding envelope. Recruitment will depend on the range of applicants, WTE preferences and preferences on flexible or remote working. Please note: There are also other services and specialities across the Trust that have embedded psychologist posts.       Main duties of the job

      Role within the Weight Management Service will involve both direct 1:1 patient care, service development, advice to other MDT members and the potential for group patient sessions.

      You will be a core member of the Multidisciplinary Team meetings and discuss each patient's suitability for treatment, to agree with other members of the MDT a shared decision for treatment for each patient.

      Essential

      • Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with adults with mental health/psychological needs including complex risk assessment
      • Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
      • Experience of working autonomously within the professional guidelines of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

      Desirable

      • Experience of using ACT, CBT, CFT, DBT and other therapies.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Professional qualification in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology at doctoral level (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
      • Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

      Knowledge

      Essential

      • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the specialism and mental health generally.
      • Knowledge around legislation and national guidance in relation to the physical health specialism.
      • Knowledge of key NHS policy developments for patients living with obesity and long-term conditions.
