      Barista

      Part-Time: Hours Vary between 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM

      Hourly Rate - $16.50

      Principle Accountabilities for a Barista:

      • Prepare incredible quality drinks, in a fast and sometimes hectic environment.
      • Produce exceptional quality drip and pour over coffee, espresso drinks with consistent espresso and milk quality.
      • Latte art is expected on all hot milk drinks. Training will be provided.
      • Focus, expertise, practice, resilience and confidence is required.
      • Heat and serve prepared food items.
      • Ensures that their experience and presentation of food and beverage items, table settings and surroundings meet and exceed the expectations of customers.
      • Check the floor and tables for cleanliness in the Galleria.
      • Clean and sanitize the work areas, seating areas and equipment/tools.
      • Interact with customers to ensure their satisfaction, build trusted relationships and gain insight that is helpful in meeting their needs and serving them at the highest level of quality.
      • Provides additional assistance to customers as needed (e.g., walk order to table when necessary, assist in selection of a gift, etc.).
      • Supports other Baristas by cleaning, maintaining and restocking stations and completing related responsibilities to ensure seamless transition from one shift to the next.
      • Describes and encourages the sale of menu selections.
      • Inputs data into POS system.
      • Works collaboratively with all co-workers and takes whatever action is necessary to provide the highest level of service to all Members of The Garlands.
      • Follow health and safety sanitation guidelines.

      Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for a Barista:

      • Must possess integrity and honesty while working in this highly autonomous position.
      • Self driven.
      • Must be a flexible, highly customer service and people oriented individual who demonstrates compassion, patience and understanding to an older adult population.
      • Must be well organized with the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities and changing priorities, while maintaining an upbeat, customer service focus.
      • Must be a team-oriented individual who enjoys working collaboratively with others, creating a positive and uplifting environment, and communicating effectively.
      • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and holidays.
      • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, initiative, follow through and sense of timing is required.
      • The ability to learn and use the computerized ordering and billing system is essential.
      • Experience having worked in a coffee shop is a plus.
      • Takes pride in personal appearance and professional demeanor.
      • Be able to handle interruptions and answer questions throughout shift.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. (trays, large coffee pots, dish pans, pots, silverware, dry storage, linens, etc.).
      • Must be able to stoop as well as stand and walk continuously
      • Must be able to move arms and hands in various directions to clean tables and workstations
      • Must be able to lift and move tables and chairs, boxes and other containers
      • Must be able to use sharp utensils
