      In this position...

      Utilizing an entrepreneurial spirit in developing manufacturing systems to be part of our team delivering Ford's goal of industrializing for 2M EVs by 2026. You have the chance to be part of our team to open new highways with our next generation's propulsion systems. You will be engineering some of the largest and most technologically advanced battery manufacturing plants in North America.       What you'll do...

      • Development of advanced Formation / Aging / Testing technology

      • Reducing Formation / Aging / Testing process • Development of new screening methods of faulty cells

      • Advanced cell performance detection methods

      • Development of traceability with complex input parameters from cell materials using ML/AI

      • Designing/Commissioning battery cell manufacturing systems (from materials to FA&T)

      • Drive Innovation, strive for Technical Excellence

      • Lead development and implementation of Strategies, Procedures, Guidelines, Bill of Process, Mfg Design Standards to maintain consistency across programs.

      • Ensure Manufacturing Point of View is represented with Product Development for Design for FA&T /Manufacturing, FMA (DFMEA, SCCAF, PFMEA, Process Reconciliation, etc.)

      • Communicate and work with multi-functional groups (e.g. Ind Eng, PD, Adv. Manufacturing, etc.) to assess and implement technology.

      • Represent Ford Motor Company in a professional and positive light with all partners (Joint Ventures, Industry Forums, etc.)

      • Support simultaneous engineering meetings with equipment manufacturers (OEMs ), as help needed from program teams

      • Incorporate continuous improvements utilizing Manufacturing Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned to find the Best-in-Class methods

      • Support/drive protection of Ford’s Intellectual Property (IP) during process development

      • Lead technical direction for post-delivery changes to equipment.

      • Provide technical support to peer organizations

      • Lead, mentor, coach, counsel, recognize and empower employees, as necessary.

      • Establish and maintain consistent priorities to fully utilize engineering resources in the most efficient manner.

      • Monitor engineering application of Strategies, Procedures, Guidelines for delivery of programs tracked system

      You'll have…

      • Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or relevant degree.

      • Minimum 3 years of battery cell process focusing on formation aging and testing, screening.

      • In depth understanding of material including cathode, anode, separator, electrolyte, and housing

      • In depth understanding of current distribution / gas formation / SEI layer during formation

      • Experience of developing advanced screening technology and performance estimation

      • Ability to travel for specific requirements (planned, not a program position).

      • Strong leadership skills

      • Demonstrated ability to deliver by adhering to Ford+ Performance Leadership Behaviors/Methodology

      • Strong manufacturing background with heavy emphasis on production experience.

      Even better you have…

      • Master or Ph.D in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry relevant degree.

      • 5+ years of battery cell industry or academia (not including Master or Ph.D period).

      • Experience of developing an advanced screening technology of faulty cells

      • Experience of developing a performance estimation technology at the cell manufacturing level.

      • Work experience in a Tier 1 battery cell supplier

      • Strong understanding of different process requirement with different chemistry or cell form factors.

      • Working with partners experience preferred

      • Experience required interaction with senior leadership, process engineering and plant production teams.

      • Ability to work with and/or manage technical organization while maintaining morale and high levels of productivity.

      • Self-starting, self-directed with extremely good influential, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
