- Laboratory experience relating to materials characterization.
- Understanding of key properties for a range of materials including ceramic, polymer, and metal.
- Hands-on experience with materials characterization techniques including determination of appropriate technique to achieve desired information, and limitations of methods.
- Experience with a database system of managing sample submissions, comfortable with general office software for communicating results.
- Experience with battery materials is a plus.
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $55.00 and $83.02/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

You’ll work across disciplines to transform improved hardware elements into a single, integrated design. By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you’ll push the industry boundaries of what batteries can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world. We are looking for a candidate to analyze battery materials properties using various characterization techniques and communicate results to the team. You will also develop methods for new battery materials and evaluate use of new techniques to enable better materials understanding. As part of battery materials analysis team, you will be expected to review data from other analysts and coordinate the use of multiple techniques, to drive better understanding of the correlation between battery materials properties and performance in a system.Key QualificationsDescription• Work with engineering and management personnel to understand the goals of the materials analysis. • Determine the best techniques to use to attain the desired information. • Acquire and analyze data using standard materials analysis techniques, including cross-sectioning, microscopy, phase and microstructure analysis, chemical analysis, thermal analysis, surface area and porosity analysis. • Prepare samples for analysis and ensure sample piece location is controlled. • Follow established methodology and develop / implement new methods as needed to provide analytical support for all aspects of production. • Work with other departments including production and R&D to collaborate on projects involving characterization. • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment including sample storage areas and sample archival.Education & ExperienceMinimum requirement of a bachelors' degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experienceAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsAbout the company
