      About this opportunity

Beehive, our in-house creative agency sits within Brands Marketing and Experience, which is part of the Consumer Relationship division. We opened our doors in 2021, and we’re now a 40 strong team of passionate designers, artworkers, copywriters and client relationship. We’re about to embark on our next phase of evolution… growing our team to enable us to better support the growing demand for more personalised, digital 121 customer communications.

We work in partnership with communication teams across Brands, Marketing & Experience (BMX) and the Chief Customer Office (CCO) – working together to get every brief right first time – whether it’s copywriting that makes the complex simple, a personalised one-to-one campaign that drives action or in-branch material that is perfect for the time and place.

      You’ll help us by…
As we head into our next phase of evolution, we’re looking for an inspiring Creative Director to come and lead our team of talented designers, motion designers and copywriters! Our focus is on 121 communications, predominantly across our owned channels. So we’re looking for a Creative Lead whose passion lies in this space. We do not create TV or broadcast work internally.

We have a portfolio of brands for you to get your arms around, working closing with our Brand team, comms partners and external agency partners.

      • You’ll lead the creative output of the Beehive team, setting the standard for all work that leaves the agency, in collaboration with our Agency Head.

      • Produce high quality design work for assets across a range of channels including email, Internet Banking, Direct Mail, Social and Digital Display. In the vast majority of cases standard visual design templates will be used with updates to iconography and imagery to keep assets fresh.

      • Creative review for work coming in from our 121 agency partners, nurturing great relationships across BME & CCO.

      • A customer first mindset, ensuring our creative is designed with accessibility in mind and in line with the principles of Consumer Duty.

      • Conceive original, and innovative campaigns, that help to differentiate our Brands and strengthen our relationships with customers.

      • Help to grow and develop our creative talent, setting the standard for what good looks like.

      • Build a brilliant wider team culture, nurturing career conversations and personal development. Line management is a big part of this role.

      What you’ll need…

Whether you’re a Senior Designer or Creative Director in an agency or working in-house, having a growth mindset is essential. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, open to collaboration, challenges us all to be better and above all, fosters brilliant relationships across the Group.

      • Highly driven creative with extensive experience in 121, personalised communications and leading strong creative teams.

      • A great designer or art director in your own right, highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or Sketch. After Effects would be a bonus.

      • The ability to take and develop an effective brief and understand requirements, directing others to execute on a brief and deliver high quality outputs.

      • A strong eye for detail and consistency is essential.

      • A proven track record delivering 121 communications across email, social, IB, and literature.

      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability and gravitas to propose your ideas with a clear and compelling rationale.

      • With 14 brands in our portfolio, you’ll know your way around a set of brand guidelines or two – building, applying, interpreting and challenging them.

      • Experience in financial services is preferred but not essential, if you have the right experience and mindset.

      • What is essential is that you have a passion for building and nurturing high performing teams.
