    • Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD committee process for each student assigned.
    • Implement an instructional, functional, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
    • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curriculum as needed and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
    • Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
    • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan for instructional activities.
    • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by IEP.
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned.
    • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer (s).
    • Use technology in the teaching/learning process.
    • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
    • Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, feeding and toileting of students as stated in IEP.
    • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
    • Provide professional development for the purpose of instructing staff about behavior interventions and restraint training.
    • Collect behavior assessment data, interpret behavior assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention plans and data for the purpose of creating and revising plans.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
    • Design, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans including progress monitoring.
    • Develop instructional and behavioral strengths, needs, and goals for specially designed instruction as well as progress monitoring through data collection systems.
    • Employ de-escalation and restraint techniques as required by the state & local procedures.
    • Maintain confidentiality consistent with federal, state and local requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Redirection Teacher

      The position of a Redirection Teacherwill be available at East Central ISD for the 2025-2026 school year.       POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experience designed to address the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth as outlined in the IEP. Instruct students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support building principal to ensure on-site administration and execution of the district’s educational programs, policies, and regulations and quality instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education/Certificate:
      Bachelor’s degree
      Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
      Special Knowledge/Skills:
      Knowledge of effective behavioral practices for students with severe emotional/behavioral problems

      EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment: [Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate]

      WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.

      SALARY: Based on the 2025-2026 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
