      GENERAL DESCRIPTION

      Provides support and services to teachers, administrators, and school-based teams for students with behavioral needs who are demonstrating interfering behaviors to the extent they create significant barriers to their learning and the learning of others.

      Reports to: Director of Special Programs

      Contract: 12 months

      FLSA: Exempt

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Any combination of at least three years' training and experience working with students with emotional disabilities and/or behavioral disorders in an educational or therapeutic setting which would provide the acceptable knowledge, skills, and abilities as evidenced in the responsibilities listed herein;
      • A Virginia teaching and/or administrator license is preferred, in the area(s) of special education, school counseling, school psychologist, or relevant endorsement;
      • A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential is preferred;
      • Possess a valid Virginia Driver's license.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Works with school-based teams on case-by-case basis to identify appropriate supports for students demonstrating interfering behaviors.
      • Researches and applies diverse academic and behavioral interventions.
      • Collaborates with community and/or state agencies to refer students for community-based resources.
      • Assists school-based teams in meetings for students demonstrating interfering behaviors
      • Assists school-based teams in resolving student conflicts and managing crises.
      • Monitors division wide discipline data of students with disabilities as recorded in student management system.
      • Assists in ensuring appropriate student conduct consistent with school standards and division policies.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.Demonstrate a willingness to work with all students.

      • Demonstrated ability to communicate, establish trust, and collaborate effectively with school and division-based teams, families, and members of the community.
      • Ability to accept and deal professionally and effectively with conflict and supervisory and stakeholder feedback.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
      • Ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.
      • Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day.
      • Sufficient mobility to perform duties as assigned.
