      Behavioral Health Assistant

      DCH Behavioral Assistant position aims to provide a challenging work environment, encourages professional growth, and is recognized by the organization as a valuable part of our commitment to developing a talented and diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will need to be able to perform well in a fast-paced environment, be self-directed, motivated, and possess good writing skills and a strong attention to detail. Through this internship, the employee will gain experience working predominately with the Behavioral Health team conducting research and policy analyses on a range of behavioral health topics including access to care, provider sharing of behavioral health information, and behavioral health integration with primary care as well as the community. The Behavioral Health Assistant will work collaboratively with department members and key stakeholders in implementing policies and strategies to improve productivity and efficiency levels while building an enjoyable culture centered around care for the patient.

      • Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality.
      • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
      • Assist with maintaining required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes.
      • Ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control, safety, environment, and infection control.
      • Assist with coordination of QC/PI activities with appropriate staff.
      • Assist in overseeing various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other related activities.
      • Collaborate determine requirements of the department and assist with the preparation of recommendations.
      • Demonstrates practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
      • Participates actively in process improvement, education, and research activities.
      • Complies with and integrates institutional and regulatory standard into clinical practice.
      • Attends all departmental meetings and committees as requested.

      Education and/or Experience:

      • Highschool graduate
      • Enrolled or will be attending an accredited College or University

      Competencies Identified:

      • Strong critical thinking and leadership skills.
      • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
      • Possess basic computer knowledge and skills.
      • Ability to initiate protocols as appropriate and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
      • Ability to provide the staff educational opportunities on an individual and or group basis to meet the needs of unit, staff, and families.
      • Maintains current knowledge of respiratory trends, and issues related to patient care.
      • Capacity to create an environment that attracts and retains qualified staff, encourages creative thinking and innovation, and recognizes excellence in performance.
      • Ability to demonstrate appropriate and ethical professional conduct internally and externally.
      • Willingness to work as an effective member of the DCH management team within and across department and divisional lines.
      • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence in assigned areas of responsibility.
