Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist (RN or LPN)- Remote

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Care Coordinator and Behavioral Health Call Center in providing quality customer service to both internal staff and external patients
- Serve as a resource for patient questions, concerns, and case management
- Communicate with providers about patient or medication concerns
- Communicate with the pharmacy to verify prescriptions or call in refills
- Complete prior authorization forms and school medication forms
- Assist with patient letters and provide information to clinics referring to behavioral health services
- Assist with referrals to other specialties and communicate with insurance if needed
- Investigate services to meet patient needs in local areas
- Assist with crisis management and communicate with providers if hospitalization is needed
- Ensure patients are scheduled for follow-up after hospitalization and address non-compliance
- Assist with increasing compliance with visits and obtaining medication
- Keep up with patient time spent for care coordination for billing and staffing purposes
- Assist the call center specialists with scheduling of intake and follow-up appointments
- Assist patients with online registration and check-in
- Verify insurance for eligibility for behavioral health services
- Input patient insurance information in the system
- Create patient charts in the prescription system
- Fax necessary information from the electronic health record system
- Obtain and scan required documents into the electronic health record system
- Update patient information and print profiles, schedules, and recall lists
- Place patients on the recall list and attach appointments
- Respond appropriately to agitated patients and review schedules for accuracy
- Fill appointment opportunities and maintain compliance with company standards
- Promote and maintain a respectful culture of employee, employer, and business confidentiality
Experience Requirements and Preferences:
Education:
- Degree as a Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
Experience:
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience required
- At least 1 year of experience as a front desk, clinic coordinator, or medical assistant in a medical office required
- Experience in a behavioral health setting preferred
- Electronic appointment scheduling experience preferred
- Strong customer service experience
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to multi-task
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills a plus
