- Provide assistance and consultations on behavioral and/or special needs to childcare and youth development staff and families as needed.
- Intake and carry out special needs assessments.
- Develop individualized and site plans with the staff, and make appropriate changes when objectives are not being met.
- Obtain signed service agreements and required documents from 3rd party agencies that will provide one on one services at our sites.
- Provide workshops and in-service trainings on social emotional learning, parent communication (written and verbal), and managing children/adolescents with difficult behaviors and special needs.
- Attend appropriate community meetings and conferences on social emotional learning, special needs/developmental disabilities and childcare/youth development issues.
- Work collaboratively with the Y-Inclusion department and coalition members.
- Use a variety of available and creative outreach approaches to inform and educate the childcare/youth development community about appropriate and positive inclusive practices.
- Provide on-going reports on services, indicators of effectiveness, and other data to be determined.
- Follow and enforce safety standards and other policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in child development, clinical psychology, social work or related field; or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of Applied Behavior Analysis required. CPR certifications required within 90 days of hire. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and adolescents with special needs/developmental disability and/or challenging behaviors and their families; exposure to and working knowledge of the Childcare / Youth Development field.
- Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. • Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer and results orientation.

- Ability to see and hear distress signals.
- Frequently required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must be able to push, lift, pull, and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- See, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers.
- Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating office equipment.
- Possess the ability to think logically, be detail-oriented, and accurate.
- Travel as required to meet accountabilities.
- Indoor and outdoor childcare and recreational sites.
- Exposure to sun, heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials. • Work in water and on slippery/uneven surfaces.
- Noise level is usually moderate.

Responsible for responding to requests for information, support, resources and services from the Childcare and Youth Development community regarding appropriate, positive, inclusive and behavioral practices. Position requires travel to Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Habra, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin, Whittier, and Yorba Linda.
