Job Summary
Assists with the local Red Kettle Campaign for an assigned location by manning a Christmas Kettle. Rings bell (where allowed by store management) to attract donors. Greets public in a courteous and friendly manner and expresses appreciation to donors.
Essential Functions

The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description. Monitors a Kettle at an assigned location; ensures that the kettle is never left unattended; ensures the security and accountability of kettle and funds with established operating procedures.
Where allowed by management, rings a handheld bell in an acceptable manner as instructed to attract attention to the Kettle and to encourage donations.
Greets the public in a courteous and friendly manner; expresses appreciation to donors.
Distributes printed material or other items, only as instructed by supervisor.
Provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services.
Conducts job duties in accordance with the ministry of The Salvation Army and its Christian principles.
Attend employee meetings as required.
Materials and Equipment
Tripod, Kettle, Sign, Bell, and Apron
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Program. Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.
Ability to greet and respond to the general public in a courteous manner. Ability to abide by required dress code. Ability to ring small hand bell and be responsible for bell and apron. Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to stand in one location for extended periods in outside weather conditions with breaks and lunch periods as required by State law.
Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
Education and Experience No formal education or experience required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Duties are performed standing and may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is performed outside where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather and discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt.
