      Job Title: Benchling Developer (Consultant)
      Location: Hybrid in Indianapolis, San Diego, or Boston (3 days onsite)
      Employment Type: Contract (NO CTC OR 3RD PARTIES PLEASE)

      Job Summary

      We are seeking a highly independent and self-driven Benchling Developer to support scientific workflows through custom development and systems integration. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with cloud services, full-stack development, and scientific domains. This role involves working closely with scientists to design templates, tools, and dashboards that enhance experimental workflows, while providing technical support and building system integrations.

      Responsibilities

      • Strong (2+) years of experience developing features in Benchling

      • Experience with AWS/cloud services, API development, and full stack development

      • Proficiency in Python and SQL

      • Biological/scientific domain expertise

      • Excellent communication skills

      • Highly independent and self-driven

      • Experience with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and Lucid

      • Develop new notebook templates, components, and tools to improve coverage of experimental workflows in Benchling

      • Translate scientific requirements into viable IT solutions

      • Communicate with scientists to clearly define experimental workflow data requirements

      • Develop dashboards that provide clarity into the status and quality of experimental workflows

      • Train scientists on the use of Benchling along with the developed workflows and system requirements

      • Provide technical support and troubleshooting capabilities for scientists

      • Build data connections between systems such as Benchling, Biologica, research data, and data visualization and analysis platforms

      • Effectively document information in a clear, concise, and consistent manner

      • Apply critical thinking to identify pain points, broken processes, or overall opportunities to build efficiencies

      • Apply a continuous improvement mindset

      • Escalate risk and issues in a timely manner to the appropriate project representative

      Requirements
