Job Description

- Administrating all insurance benefit programs including preparation of benefit communications, policies and procedures
- Overseeing benefits contracts, plans, and documents and maintaining positive relationships with benefits vendors
- Providing guidance and overseeing documentation of disability claims
- Providing beneficiary information and documentation for life insurance claims
- Adding, editing and maintaining benefits plans and business processes in the HRMS. Reviewing employee benefit changes in the system
- Administering benefit terminations, overseeing COBRA administration and compliance
- Coordinating with Accounting to reconcile benefit and retirement GL accounts in accordance with regulations and WSECU policies
- Responsible for accurate administration of the retirement, 401(k) and 457(b) programs, including employee education sessions, loans, distributions, QDROs, hardship withdrawals, and rollovers
- Administering Worker's compensation. Interacting with retro program provider and L&I
- Working with benefits partners and leaders to schedule the annual medical and dental Open Enrollment, setting timelines, schedule meetings/check-ins and sending out notifications and communications to employees
- Assisting with new-hire orientations, developing and presenting WSECU portion of benefit open enrollment and retirement education sessions
- Working with HRIS Specialist to set up and test Open Enrollment and FSA Enrollment processes in Workday
- Remaining up to date on HR and benefit trends, regulations, laws and procedures, sharing best practices and gaps. Updating and creating policies according to new developments. Monitoring plans and practices for cost savings and efficiencies
- Minimum three (3) years of experience with direct responsibility for benefit administration, including coordination of retirement programs and vendor contract review
- Experience in analysis, Worker’s compensation, and administration of protected leaves (FMLA, ADA)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Tactful and professional communication (both written and oral)
- Ability to present a professional image. High degree of confidentiality. Ability to work under pressure while consistently producing accurate work. Ability to handle sensitive information and stressful situations in a confidential and professional manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Must be able to create and use formulas to create Excel including formulas, formatting, linking, charts and graphs
- High school or greater level of education required, plus post-high school education in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge and experience interpreting and complying with federal and state employment laws such as ACA, HIPAA, ERISA
- Experience with Workday
- The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increase during their tenure in the position.
- The target range for qualified new hires is typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account.

As our Benefits Administrator, you’ll be part of an energized HR team that is truly dedicated to employee service and success. You’ll be responsible for performing benefits and retirement program administration, bill reconciliation functions, and processing benefits enrollments and changes. You’ll be reconciling related accounts in compliance with state and federal laws and company policy while monitoring worker's compensation. Competitive Pay: $28.08 - $42.12 per hour, dependent on relevant qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefits package
Where we’re located: 330 Union Ave, Olympia WA. Employee must reside and perform all work in the state of Washington. This is a hybrid position that blends working in-office and from home. Works onsite one (1) / two (2) / three (3) occasions per week
When you’d work: Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, full time minimum 40 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility required to meet branch needs
