Job Description

- Review, determine, and enter claim requests from multiple administrators, potential claim notices, and aggregate reports within the claims system, adhering to department turnaround goals from multiple administrators, brokers, and account managers
- Review policy terms and administrators to ensure correct data is received; update handling process accordingly in journal notes
- Collaborate with Examiners and Account Managers to determine reporting types, delivery frequency, and how claim information will be sent to the coordinator team
- Review and identify various document types received, including stop loss claims, high-dollar claim notices, aggregate reports, and claims
- Prioritize documents based on department turnaround goals and individual needs
- Create and maintain an organized electronic filing system
- Convert and format text files into accessible reports for stop loss examiners and medical risk consultants
- Manager multiple secure sites with passwords, monitor for new policies, and ensure consistent access for monthly reporting
- Communicate with Account Managers and Stop Loss Examiners to ensure essential data for year-end reconciliations is recieved
- Prepare and review the daily check log for the benefits division
- Investigate potential issues in the check log and print explanations of reimbursements for the stop loss department
- Research returned (voided) and refund checks
- Review stale-dated check investigations, including correspondence to policy holders
- Update and manage the Stale Date check log to ensure no outstanding balances remain with Symetra
- Work on special assignments and perform other related support duties as requested

- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Three to five years’ experience in an office setting with related experience, including administrative and/or customer service
- Background in reinsurance or first-dollar medical claim experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong data entry and computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to exercise judgment
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Benefits Claims Coordinator!
About the role
As a Benefits Claims Coordinator, you will be responsible for data entry and analysis across various areas within the Stop Loss Claims Department. In this role you will support Account Managers, Stop Loss Examiners, Medical Risk Consultants, and Aggregate Examiners. In addition, accurate claim entries support the stop loss business partners who review the monthly stop loss reserves. The Claims Coordinator reviews data received via the benefits email account and prioritizes it for entry according to departmental guidelines.

Compensation
Hourly Range: $22.00 – $29.98 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
