      Company Overview: Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or “SIA”, located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM – meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads.       SIA is the safest automotive manufacturing plant in the United States and is also a pillar in the community due to its numerous fundraising activities held onsite, donations to local charities and plentiful volunteer opportunities. SIA is a frontrunner in environmental conservation being the first Zero-Landfill automotive manufacturing plant and the first to have its campus designated a backyard wildlife habitat. SIA has grown tremendously since its 1989 beginnings and continues to be an example of success within the automotive industry.

      Position Summary: The Benefits Coordinator is the main point of contact for Benefits and/or FML, Disability, Military Leave related customer service needs. This role is accountable for managing Associate benefit files, assists with annual benefits enrollment and family status changes, assisting with benefits projects as needed, and leave of absence questions.

      Outline of duties:

      • Main point of contact for benefits questions from Associates and their families, in both face-to-face interactions and email questions
      • Prepares and maintains Associate benefit files
      • Assists with new Associate orientation and development of materials to educate Associates on their benefits
      • Explains Associate benefits by conducting meetings and responding to requests
      • Assists with annual benefits enrollment process
      • Makes recommendations to management on customer service themes and solutions
      • Assists with benefits administration maintenance of data
      • Maintains Associate confidence by keeping benefit information confidential
      • Main point of contact for assigned benefit vendors, including oversite of monthly billing
      • Main point of contact for leave of absence questions from Associates in face-to-face interactions, by phone, and through email correspondence
      • Responsible for the data integrity of company leave of absence records
      • Partners with leave administration vendor to administer leave claims processes
      • Educates Associates and Leaders on SIA leave policies and processes by conducting meetings and responding to requests
      • Maintains Associate confidence by keeping leave of absence information confidential
      • Main point of contact for assigned leave vendor, including oversite of monthly billing
      • Maintain current knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act, military leaves, Americans with Disability Act, and other applicable federal and state leave laws and company policies
      • Partners with payroll to communicate short-term disability pay
      • Makes recommendations to management on customer service themes and solutions
      • All other duties as assigned

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • High School diploma or equivalent with 2 or more years of relevant experience
      • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
      • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
      • Great attention to detail

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Associate degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field with 1 or more years relevant experience
