Job Description

- The Benefits Specialist will assist in the daily functions of the Employee Relations department to help carry out the DBU mission.
- Administer all benefits programs including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability and Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Providing support moving toward the DBU strategic plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certification in Employee Benefits a plus
- Proficiency with HRIS benefit administration
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Firsthand shake with new employee experience welcome to DBU.
- Assist with New Employee Orientation
- Maintain benefits materials to ensure accuracy for new/current employees.
- Process monthly benefit plan payments, submittals, journal entries and reconciliation of accounts.
- Administer health, dental, vision, life insurance
- Helps HR maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; assists in review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies associated with administering benefits.
- Proof benefit deductions on each payroll and transmit HSA contributions after each payroll.
- Responsible for ACA compliance reporting through the HRIS.
- Reporting for IPEDS, NDT, 990 etc. as needed
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
- Plan and prepare for yearly Open Enrollment process
- Work with insurance broker on insurance renewal process when applicable
- Maintain working relationship with insurance carriers and insurance broker
- Ensure accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility/enrollment information
- Monitor weekly file feed to insurance carriers to ensure accurate coverage
- Distribute all benefits enrollment materials and determine eligibility
- Enroll employees with insurance carriers and process life status changes
- Assists employees with benefits questions and claims
- Other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
