- Provide specialist technical advice on BESS projects across all stages, from concept development through to commissioning.
- Act as the Owner’s Engineer technical lead, reviewing and validating BESS designs, specifications, supplier proposals, and performance models.
- Develop and review functional specifications, control philosophies, protection strategies, and integration requirements for BESS assets.
- Support procurement activities by evaluating technical submissions, conducting design due diligence, and advising on compliance with industry standards.
- Engage on and / technically review BESS designs for clients, working closely with environment and planning team members.
- Coordinate with grid operators, clients, and contractors to ensure BESS projects meet technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging BESS technologies, performance standards, and market developments to inform best practice design and delivery.
- Experience in the design, delivery, or technical review of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects, ideally acting in an Owner’s Engineer or advisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of BESS technologies, integration with renewable generation and grid systems, and performance modelling.
- Aurecon is looking for experts in MV and HV electrical design, power systems, controls, or renewable energy but will also consider backgrounds in mechanical or civil engineering with a proven ability to lead technical aspects of complex projects.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (such as IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS) and a good understanding of safety, grid compliance, and regulatory requirements for energy storage assets.
