      DEFINITION
      To perform routine clerical work, including the ability to write, spell, and speak correctly, in both English and Spanish, and to make simple arithmetical calculations.
      SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
      Receives general supervision from site administrator.
      Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
      1. Assist in the preparation and reinforcement of the presentation of bilingual learning materials and in the performance of other bilingual activities.
      2. Perform record keeping activities; take attendance and maintain attendance records; fill out forms and applications as needed; assist in maintaining testing and other records.
      3. Telephone and interpret for non-English speaking parents, when directed, to inform them of the behavioral or academic standing of their child; interpret at parent/teacher conferences.
      4. Attend and participate in faculty, staff, inservice and parent conferences and meetings.
      5. Operate audio-visual equipment, computer, copying machines and other related equipment.
      6. Register new students, and communicate between school, teacher, and parents.
      7. Make home visits (with teacher/principal) to assist with oral translation.
      8. Attend BAC and PTA meetings, and Kindergarten Orientation to assist with oral translation.
      9. Translate in writing from English to Spanish all school letters, PSD announcements, school newsletters, school awards, BAC, school plan, and school report card.
      10. Assist in other areas at times of reduced office staff or peak periods including in the areas of school clerical and health assistance.
      11. Perform related duties as assigned.

      Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
      Experience:
      Some general clerical experience is desirable.
      Training:
      Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

      Typing Requirement:
      45 Net Words Per Minute
      A typing test will be administered to verify typing speed

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
      Proficiency in Spanish language in addition to English.

      Work Schedule:
      This position typically works part-time, five hours and forty-five minutes (5.75) per day, and observes a 10-month calendar.

      Salary
      The starting salary rate for a new employee is at the first step ($18.83/hour) of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for this position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

      Test Information
      Testing procedures may consist of a written multiple-choice and performance exam, in addition to a translation writing exercise. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and notified by email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance. Tentative test date: Week of August 28, 2023.

      Physical Demands
      The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, squatting, reaching, and twisting at waist; sitting for extended periods; hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding/typing, use of computer mouse and touchpad, and writing instruments; vision and hearing in normal range with or without correction.

      Work Environment
      Indoor office environment. Exposure to temperature swings in climate-controlled and outdoor environments; exposure to various noises from office equipment/machines, employees, and public.
