      STARTING SALARY: $34,200 - $50,600 Salary is commensurate with experience.

      JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE

      Under the direct supervision of the Billing Supervisor, employee is responsible for the accurate and timely billing of electric service accounts and support department activities that drive appropriate corrective action on customer accounts, proper application of commission approved tariffs, PUCT and NMPRC rules and regulations, application of state laws regarding sales taxes, and maintaining files associated with above responsibilities.

      EDUCATION

      Associate's degree in business or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

      Completion of basic accounting courses or some accounting/bookkeeping background required.

      KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

      1. Related experience in a position with direct responsibility for solving complex problems in a timely manner, preferably in a customer accounting environment.
      2. Analytical and mathematical skills with working knowledge of percentages, ratios and mathematical formulas
      3. Ability to develop and apply working knowledge and skills of the Company’s Customer Cloud Service (CCS) billing system.
      4. Possesses a positive customer service mindset and is able to advocate for the customer and understand the customer experience.
      5. Ability to develop and apply working knowledge of regulatory body rules and regulations pertaining to electric utility metering and billing.
      6. Ability to use data analysis software such as Microsoft Excel to create and navigate spreadsheets and manipulate data sets.
      7. Ability to learn procedures, policies, rules, and laws under which the department work is performed.
      8. Ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines, recognize priorities, and ability to switch tasks as section requirements dictate.
      9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
      10. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the public.
      11. Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      1. Review and evaluate daily system exceptions for error messages, determine appropriate correction course of action and perform corrections.
      2. Review daily department reports to identify records that require correction, determine appropriate correction course of action, and perform corrections.
      3. Review daily interdepartmental inquiries; research and compile relevant account information to determine the appropriate correction course of action, perform corrections, and provide inquiry responses.
      4. Provide documentation with explanation and breakdown of system adjustments or corrections for use in correspondence with customers regarding their electric service accounts.
      5. Perform bill-print quality testing and verifications to ensure accurate bill images are generated in the CCS system and provided to customers.
      6. Report and track CCS and bill-print errors, unusual results, and department report inconsistencies.
      7. Apply Texas and New Mexico approved tariff applicability, Substantive Rules, and Company procedures to compute bills, system corrections, and other financial transactions on customer accounts.
      8. Evaluate customer historical energy consumption patterns based on Texas and New Mexico tariff applicability to determine proper rate classification and initiate rate changes when appropriate.
      9. Apply Texas and New Mexico sales tax rules for correct tax status applicability and billing calculations and perform corrections when necessary.
      10. Collaborate with other departments to investigate meter to bill discrepancies and determine appropriate billing correction course of action and perform corrections.
      11. Perform assigned testing of the CCS system and report test results to maintain the system integrity.
      12. Maintain required reports and department documentation in compliance with Corporate Retention policy and State law.
      13. Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.

        WORK ENVIRONMENT

        1. The incumbents in this classification are not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; primary work environment is typically of an office or administrative nature.
        2. May work irregular and non-standard hours.
        3. May require travel to Company work sites.
        4. May require out of town travel.

        12. Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape and temperature or texture by touching with skin, i.e., fingertips.
        13. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
        14. Hearing: Having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
        15. Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
        16. Visual acuity: Color, depth perception and field of vision to include measurement devices for close inspection and analysis.
