      OVERVIEW

      The Billing Supervisor provides support and backup for the Billing Director and Associate Director of Billing, and assists with preserving the integrity of the historical billing data, ensuring accurate year-to-year comparisons.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Assists Billing Director and Associate Director of Billing in reviewing, analyzing and ensuring compliance with outside counsel and/or billing guidelines;
      • Proactively reviews and follows up with assigned Partners to review unbilled Progress (WIP) and unpaid (A/R) inventory;
      • Establishes effective and open lines of communication with clients’ financial team, so that the Firm’s invoices are processed expeditiously;
      • Prepares invoices for assigned Partner’s approval, finalizes and posts invoice(s) in 3E, prepares and ensures successful submission of e-bill(s), and monitors and reports on status when necessary;
      • Troubleshoots client invoice related issues, such as e-billing questions/problems, providing back-up for billed expenses, etc.;
      • Assists Billing Partners with developing billing forecasts and budgets;
      • Follows up with Billing team regarding unapplied payments on account and aged unbilled time;
      • Prepares various billing and payments reports analyses as requested by client or partner;
      • Trains assigned staff in the “best practices” for billing and collections, including use of Firm software, such as 3E and Alp;
      • Assigns general billing requests to individual Billing Analyst;
      • Responds to Client/Partner billing inquiries/questions in a timely manner and escalates issues, as needed, to Associate Director and Director or other Firm management;
      • Prioritizes tasks to ensure work is handled in a timely manner;
      • Documents and updates Partner and client billing arrangements, as needed;
      • Provides coverage during absence of other team members;
      • Handles responsibilities within the billing function, as assigned from time-to-time; and
      • Performs other duties, as assigned.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience;
      • 10 plus years of legal billing experience;
      • Experience with 3E, EbillingHub and E-billing vendor sites;
      • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
      • Understanding of the implementation of rates in 3E and rate structures;
      • Must have strong attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills;
      • Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team;
      • Must be proactive and possess strong problem solving skills;
      • Must have strong customer service skills;
      • Must have ability to successfully supervise billers’ workloads; and
      • Availability to work additional hours, as needed.

      This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
