- Consistently meets regulatory and department guidelines, such as PM compliance. PM compliance for assigned medical equipment at a minimum of 95% and life support equipment at 100% each month. Consistently meets departmental goal for "Open Repair Cases Average (OCA)."
- Works with hospital departments, communicates the status of repairs, and ensures minimal equipment downtime.
- Demonstrates high service standards, such as responding promptly to customer requests and identifying and anticipating customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
- Document all equipment support activities performed in the database entirely, accurately, and on time as per established guidelines.
- Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all assigned patient medical equipment per manufacturer-established specifications.
- Demonstrates solid technical skills in analyzing, calibrating, and installing assigned medical equipment.
- Utilizes tools and test equipment appropriately. Keeps an inventory of assigned tools and test equipment.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Demonstrates knowledge and behaviors related to environmental, employee, or patient safety requirements.
- Manages time effectively to meet established department guidelines.
- Utilizes department resources and supplies efficiently.
- Consistently meets productivity goal of 75% of working hours documented in the TMS.
- Evaluate and recommend new ideas that improve medical equipment quality, safety, and service.
- Participates in Annual Technical Competency to establish future training needs.
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in changing demands and displays initiative to improve relative to job function.

Job Summary:
The BMET-I position is an entry-level role for the Biomedical department. The primary purpose of the Biomedical Technician I position is to provide technical support for general medical equipment and, conduct safety inspections for the facilities, and meet regulatory guidelines through the analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, upgrades on assigned medical equipment, and incident reporting on operator/system errors and other duties as given. As assigned, this position also provides technical support on general medical equipment to our customers within the organization. This position works under relatively close supervision of a BMET II/BMET III or the Biomed Manager and conducts work, provides records, and maintains a database of scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, and safety testing in accordance with manufacturer, regulatory, and department guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, and visitors of all ages while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills
Associate Degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering, or related field required within six (6) months of hire date OR successful completion of Military BMET training.
Work Experience:
Preferred one year of experience maintaining electronics, electromechanical, or medical equipment, but not required.
Mental Demands:
Courtesy, diplomacy, and cooperation in dealing with visitors, review agencies, physicians, hospital staff, and team members. Exceptional oral and written skills are required to relate effectively to Hospital and medical staff. The individual must have the ability to use a personal computer. Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. Must have a high energy level and be capable of handling pressure situations mentally and physically. The individual must be able to type and be familiar with spelling, grammar, and punctuation rules. The individual must be able to use a computer display station, copier, telephone, personal computer, tube system, and calculator. Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Capable of handling pressure situations with professionally demanding customers. Use tact and courtesy to resolve customer-related issues. Possess the ability to learn new methodologies.
