      The Position

      Duration : 4 months

      Modality: Full Time (35 hours per week) Hybrid (majority of days on - site is required)

      Start date : May through August

      Location: Mississauga Campus.

      Position Summary:

      The Summer at Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience. Interns enjoy opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees throughout our organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization.

      As a Bioinformatics Software Engineering intern, you will be part of a computational science and informatics team building cutting edge bioinformatics and software tools for Next Generation Sequencing informatics solutions.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Collaborate with bioinformatic scientists and software engineers/architects to understand the project requirement.

      • Develop tools that improves the continuous integration and testing of bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines

      • Learn SAFe software development process and tools

      • Breakdown the project requirement to research/technical problems.

      • Research and communicate/present possible solutions to the problems identified with the team.

      • Document and create the project report.

      Who You Are (Required)

      • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s in Bioinformatics, Biomedical engineering, Computer Science Engineering who have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework at a university, and are available to work full time for the duration of the internship.

      • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during the program calendar year 2024 in any of the following majors: Bioinformatics, Biomedical engineering, Computer Science Engineering

      • Good verbal & written communication skills

      • Proficiency in Python.
