This employee will serve as a project biologist and be responsible for the management of finfish related activities for the marine stock enhancement program including applied fisheries research activities. The employee is expected to maintain recirculating aquaculture systems, assist with pond culture to produce fish for the stock enhancement program, maintain intensive zooplankton cultures, assist with replicated experiments to evaluate spawning capabilities, environmental tolerances, physiological capabilities, and nutritional requirements, and keep detailed and accurate data logs. The employee must have experience in aquatic animal husbandry, recirculating system operation and maintenance, and general fish health and handling techniques. A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area. Familiarity with towing trailers and handling small boats in water. In addition, applicants should be able to swim, lift heavy objects, and have a basic familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Applicants should also have knowledge of marine and/or freshwater fishes of the southeastern US and the capability to work independently. Experience and/or knowledge of tissue collection for genetic analyses and histological preparation and processing of biological samples is preferred. Skills associated with plumbing using PVC preferred. A current CV is requested to supplement the required state application.About the company
