      • POSITION PURPOSE
        • Duties consist of optimizing the safety, effectiveness and economy of electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment use for patient care. The position also includes review of diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices and in-servicing others on electronic and electrical systems.
      • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
        • Associate Degree: Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent certification
      • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

      • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
        • Training to include physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology. Equivalent military training or four year degree as comparable.
        • One (1) year of experience as a biomedical equipment technician in a medical or manufacturing setting preferred.
        • Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
        • Ability to read computer schematic and wiring diagrams.
      • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
        • Repairs and maintains biomedical and electronic systems throughout the hospital. Read English and interprets owners and operators service manuals for the electronic equipment and systems. Must also be able to move up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis. This involves reaching about the head and with arms full extended. Documentation of complete work is required.
        • Provides in-service training for equipment users and associated staff. This requires ability to communicate to other individuals the technical and operational points of interest on equipment. This is frequently to a group of approximately 20 staff members.
        • Work includes wire pull projects, modifications of equipment, participation in meetings and other duties as assigned.
        • Ability to take call, as scheduled, to respond to equipment breakdowns and failures.
        • Documentation of work and job functions is included on a regular basis and is kept timely and up-to-date including work order requests, preventive maintenance procedures and other necessary job history documentation.
