Job Summary:
Obtains birth information from the patient by phone and by visiting patient rooms. Advises patient on state regulations regarding completion of birth certificates. Notarizes paternity affidavits in accordance with Louisiana law. Abstracts medical information from patient records and submits to the State. Submits birth information for every birth at Woman's Hospital and maintains a record thereof. Assists patients in resolving problems regarding the birth certificate by communicating with local and state registrars. Performs various duties assigned by the department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Job Knowledge:
Must have basic reading, math and comprehension skills, excellent organizational skills, communicate effectively verbally and be proficient in writing. Must possess an intermediate to proficient level of technology literacy skills (i.e., locate and retrieve files in various directories, rename files, create folders to organize files, use input devices, attach and use peripheral devices [scanners], and troubleshoot common technology problems). Must be able maintain accuracy of work under strict deadlines, be self motivated, work independently and in a team environment while exercising sound judgment. Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills are required. Ability to maintain self composure in difficult situations is extremely important.
Hours:
Monday - Friday with rotating weekends
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Employee Referral Bonus $150

Previous birth certificate experience.
