      As an integral component of the Bishop Luers High School Capital Campaign, this position will have oversight in regard to all of the career readiness programs in which our students might participate.

      The Director of Career Readiness

      The expectations for the role of the Director of Career Readiness would include, but not be limited to:
      • Collaborate with school counselors to develop reliable early evaluation criteria for the profile of appropriate student participation in both the Internship Experience and the Career Technical Academy.
      • Collaborate with administration, school counselors and department chairs to accurately identify those students who meet the profile criteria.
      • Create an initial list of industry categories to offer as part of the program, with regular and ongoing analysis to determine where needs most align.
      • Identify specific local businesses within those industries that align with program goals regarding industry involvement as well as educational and philosophical criteria.
      • Establish an ongoing network of local business affiliations, adjusting and amending as necessary to meet student needs.
      • Maintain ongoing communication with the network of businesses, including the specific design of student participation, interaction, and requirements for certificate completion.
      • Engagement of parents in a collaborative conversation (via in-person, online and written correspondence) to fully educate and encourage buy-in regarding the value of career readiness programming.
      • Establish specific metrics to evaluate initial student selection into program.
      • Establish specific metrics to evaluate ongoing student engagement and identify minimums for continued participation.
      • Establish specific metrics to evaluate ongoing student performance in the program.
      • Develop and establish, in collaboration with school personnel and business network, specific criteria and requirements for certificate acquisition.
      • Establish appropriate certificate curriculum and timeline to align with school schedule and calendar, allowing for integrated school and career readiness schedules for participating students
      • Establish/develop how program curriculum interfaces and aligns with current diploma curriculum requirements.
      • Establish and implement assessment criteria to measure ongoing and final success of students in the program.
      • Explore and establish dual credit relationships with various appropriate institutions.
      • Monitor student progress toward receiving dual credit.

      In respect to primary skills and competencies for the position, the Director of Career Readiness will be:
      • Collaborative with all involved constituencies, including students, parents, school personnel, and business contacts;
      • Enthusiastic toward service to students as they pursue life opportunities;
      • Flexible in design, application, and implementation of program;
      • Relatable personality to allow smooth and successful communication and interaction with all involved constituencies;
      • Excellent in written and verbal communication;
      • Innovative in search of best practices and new ideas.
