- Study blueprints and machining instructions to determine grinding operations and plan sequence of operations.
- Compute machine indexing ratios and cam dimensions for specified spacing and contour of gear teeth.
- Select index plate, cams, grinding wheel, feed rates, grinding speed, and depth of cut.
- Position and secure index plate, cams, and grinding wheel in machine.
- Set up automatic dressing device to dress wheel to specified profile.
- Move controls to set synchronized rotation speeds and feed rates.
- Position and secure workpiece on mandrel between centers or in chuck, and turn handwheels to position workpiece and wheel, verifying positions with thickness gauges, dial indicators, and micrometers.
- Turn valve handle and direct flow of coolant against wheel and workpiece.
- Move controls to index workpiece and feed wheel to workpiece, adjusting depth of cut in part by sight and feel.
- Verify dimensions of ground workpiece for conformance to specifications.
- Manage work area and maintain high levels of housekeeping and cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate process sheets, develop new ones, and report router accuracy problems.
- Produce high-quality work with minimal scrap.
- Manage inventory of segments and coolant, reorder as required to ensure continuous production.

- Experience running 24" and 36" grinders
- Experience in production run set-ups and use of tooling, fixturing, segment selection, and safety procedures for grinders
- Ability to work with precision measurement instruments such as micrometers

- Basic math comprehension, including the ability to identify measurements down to thousandths
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience adjusting machine beds and setting tension on blades
- Experience positioning jigs or attachments on machine beds
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proactive about workstation preparation and cleanup
Job Title: Entry Level CNC/Blanchard Grinder
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Blanchard Grinder Operator to work in our industrial manufacturing environment. This position offers both day and swing shift options, with initial training provided on the day shift. The primary responsibility will be to grind steel parts weighing up to 450 lbs, using jib and overhead cranes for safe movement. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical comprehension.

Work Environment
This role is based in a heavy industrial machine shop where you will be exposed to the elements. Conditions inside the shop will reflect the outside weather, so it can be cold or warm accordingly. The work involves getting dirty due to the presence of coolant, steam, and metal grime. You must be comfortable and eager to work in this environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
