      Job Details

      The Blood Bank Supervisor provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients as ordered by the medical staff and performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices
      Direct, supervise, and coordinates all operations and activities in the Blood Bank Department


      Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Supervises the daily blood bank operations, including work schedules, work assignments, receipt and allocation of specimens for testing, employee training and counseling.
      • Implements, maintains and monitors laboratory testing procedures, ensuring quality control and cost effectiveness.
      • Responsible for the performance of routine and specialized testing for blood group antigens, compatibility and antibody identification and ensuring that testing conforms to the standards of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).
      • Responsible for investigating abnormalities and adverse reactions to transfusion.
      • Prepares and issues blood components and performs related duties.
      • Responsible for data collection, monitoring, and reporting on an ongoing basis involving, laboratory testing, QSM, compliance to NYSDOH rules and regulations, and laboratory safety.
      • Review of all proficiency testing or results produced as an alternative method.
      • Has knowledge of other areas of the laboratory including but not limited to Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Point of Care and Phlebotomy.
      • Performs evaluations of new test methodologies or of revised testing procedures.
      • Reviews departmental reports.


      Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences consistent with NY State guidelines (NAACLS ACCREDITED, ASCP or NCA Eligible)
      • Licenses: NYS
      • Experience: 6 years hospital experience required, prior lead or supervisory experience preferred



      Salary Range

      USD $116,000.00 - USD $140,000.00 /Yr.



      This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
