      The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day.       The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Body Worn Camera Support Specialist. • This position provides technical support to the Body Worn Camera Unit (BWCU) of the Professional Standards and Accountability Bureau (PSAB), a select group of sworn investigators and civilian staff working under the authority of the MOOT MTA Police Force and tasked with investigating the most complex and sensitive misconduct investigations for the Department and allied police agencies. This position will serve as technical support for the BWC Unit. Employees will install and configure hardware and software, troubleshoot, and provide first line diagnosis for Body Worn Cameras, PC/telecommunications hardware, and software problems, and provide help desk problem resolution. Employees receive general supervision from a higher-level supervisor. Work is reviewed in terms of effectiveness in meeting objectives. Guidelines in the form of departmental policies and procedures, technical manuals, and computer science principles and practices provide the parameters for employees to perform their work. Employees are required to use sound judgment as necessary to modify. adapt, or deviate from guidelines to accomplish work assignment objectives. Employees in this class interact with both technical and non-technical staff within other departments.

      Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include course work in local or wide area microcomputer or minicomputer networks.

      Experience: None

      Notes:

      1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in local or wide area microcomputer or minicomputer networks may be substituted for the required education.

      2. One year of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area microcomputer or minicomputer networks may be substituted for the required education.

      3. Experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school on a year-for-year basis.

      4. Completion of a certification program in Network Engineering or Internetwork Routing, such as Certified Novell Engineer, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert or equivalent certification program may be substituted for the required education.

      Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
