      Job Purpose:

      In this position, you will be an important member of the boiler operations team. You will operate within Marvin’s team-based environment and be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and performance of wood fed and natural gas boilers. The Boiler Apprentice is a position that is a 3-year commitment with the goal of obtaining a 1st Class Boiler License. Having the ability to trouble shoot and repair/PM mechanical systems on a wide variety of boiler equipment will make this role both challenging and rewarding.

      Highlights of your role

      • Possess safe work habits and maintain good housekeeping at all times
      • Learn all Daily/hourly checks to adhere to state laws.
      • Learn wood material feed system to solve any auger or conveying problems.
      • Execute preventative maintenance and repairs on all boiler systems.
      • Study and pass special engineers license within 3 months of start date. (Study materials will be provided)
      • Understand low water cut off and how to solve issue.
      • Learn how to shut down, rake out, and start up boilers properly.
      • Participate in annual tear down, cleaning, and assembly of boilers.
      • Able to learn to operate heavy equipment, such as a pay loader
      • Ability to work with boiler chemical additives
      • Must attend training and learn safety protocols and other tasks as needed to preform job duties.

      • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
      • The ability to read schematics to diagnose equipment issues
      • The ability to work well independently with a focus to get things done right
      • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand boilers and related equipment systems and processes.
      • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

      • Communication and collaboration skills, ability to work cross-functionally

      Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or GED required
      • Experience with boiler operation a plus

      Schedule:

      Evenings: Monday - Thursday, 3:30pm - 1:30am, and any required overtime
