      Job Description

      The Boston Public Health Commission is one of forty-three new award recipients of the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act, for Public Health Programs to Address Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias.

      BOLD funding will be used to promote a strong public health approach to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Recipients are focused on changing systems, environments and policies to promote risk reduction, to improve early diagnosis, to prevent and manage comorbidities, and to avoid hospitalizations. To accomplish this public health approach to Alzheimer's disease, recipients are using data to set priorities, to develop public health actions, to address social determinants of health, and to provide support for caregivers who take care of people with dementias. BPHC has secured commitment from a range of partners who will collaborate on pilot-stage projects as Implementation Phase sub-award recipients.

      DUTIES

      • With guidance from the Evaluation Office, support the Program Manager in evaluating a large federal grant focused on the promotion of a strong public health approach to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD).
      • Work with BPHC's Population Health and Research Office (PHAR) on current surveillance data and potential needs.
      • Work with BPHC's Office of Performance Improvement (OPI) to advance the development and implementation of relevant measurement processes.
      • Work with partners to develop an evaluation plan and data collection tools that address performance measures in the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) and additional measures unique to each proposed activity.
      • Develop a Theory of Change and logic model for the program.
      • Guide the design and implementation of program models and evaluations.
      • Assist in the design of and facilitate the implementation of process and outcome evaluation protocols for BPHC programs and efforts, using both quantitative and qualitative methods as appropriate.
      • Work with project teams to monitor workplans in an ongoing manner to develop quarterly evaluation narrative summaries.
      • Support program development based on evaluation science, by leading data analysis, interpretation, and integration in conjunction with the project team and Evaluation Office.
      • Contribute to monitoring reports, project tracking spreadsheets, and communications with partners and BPHC colleagues.
      • Contribute and adhere to federal grant reporting requirements and regulations
      • Support the planning, implementation, and development of materials and content for evaluation related training.
      • Communicate evaluation and research findings through written and oral presentations to both professional and non-professional audiences, including development of infographics of evaluation findings.
      • Promote ethical guidelines and principles when conducting evaluation activities and collecting, disseminating, and using data.
      • Work to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
      • Promote health equity, inclusion, and diversity within the BPHC, department and community.
      • Supervised by the Evaluation Office's Director of Evaluation.

      Minimum Qualifications

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      • Associate's degree in in public health/Social/Health sciences with 7+ years of program evaluation experience. Bachelor's degree in public health/Social/Health sciences with 5+ years of program evaluation experience. Master's degree in public health/Social/Health sciences plus 3-5 years of program evaluation experience.
      • Commitment to racial health equity and understanding of how racism impacts health outcomes and inequitable health outcomes.
      • Expertise in health equity and racial and social justice analysis and frameworks. Specifically concerning data.
      • Knowledge of principles and practices of sound research and evaluation methodologies including mixed methods research methods.
      • Knowledge of Theories of Change and/or Program Model Development.
      • Experience developing, implementing surveys, collecting data, and quantitative and qualitative data management, analysis.
      • Ability to synthesize evaluation findings into written reports and presentations.
      • Able to draft survey instruments, interview and focus group guides, and other data collection methods.
      • Experience considering the impacts of research/evaluation on communities that have been made vulnerable and marginalized.
      • Able to analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate software and methods (e.g., statistical tests and coding of qualitative data) (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Dedoose, NVivo).
      • Advanced user of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
      • Excellent organizational skills and oral and writing skills required.
      • Ability to work as part of a diverse team, to manage competing priorities, and to consistently meet deadlines required.
      • Strong commitment to social justice, racial justice, and health equity.
      • Boston Residency a plus.
      • Knowledge of Boston's neighborhoods a plus.
      • Understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) a plus.
      • Previous work on State or Federal Grants a plus.
      • Multilingual a plus.
