Exciting opportunity for an outstanding academic who is a leading authority in Internal Medicine with demonstrated medical education and research experience.
The role sits within the Sydney Medical School
Full time Professor (Level E) appointment with an attractive remuneration package.
- must hold a medical degree as well as a PhD in a relevant discipline and an international reputation for outstanding scholarship and research;
- must have an outstanding track record in obtaining grant funding and an exceptional publication record with original contributions in their respective field;
- must have experience in educational design and delivery, including recognition for achieving improved or consistently excellent student outcomes, educational innovation or educational leadership;
- must have the ability to contribute to the development of a culture of excellence in medical education and research that is underpinned by evidence-based practice;
- must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability and experience in working cooperatively and collegially in inclusive decision-making environments.
About the opportunity
The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty at the University of Sydney, and contains seven academic schools, including the Sydney Medical School. The Sydney Medical School is internationally recognised for research and teaching in health and medicine. With formal links to more than 50 hospitals and health care facilities across New South Wales, the Sydney Medical School is Australia’s longest established medical school, offering outstanding opportunities for academics and students to participate in sector-leading practices in education, research and clinical care.
We are seeking to appoint a senior academic as the Bosch Chair of Internal Medicine. Reporting to the Head of School or their delegate, the Chair will grow an internationally outstanding research program which will complement and leverage the research activities in the school and faculty.
The position requires a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills who is passionate about building a program of work in medical research. Bringing a record of excellent research output and grant success as well as experience in external engagement, this person will demonstrate the intellectual leadership to build a world-renowned program, as well as actively contribute to teaching, pedagogical innovation, academic debate and policy development within the University and beyond.

Term and remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a 5-year fixed term position on a full-time basis, with the possibility for renewal subject to performance and funding. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
