      The Child Mind Institute is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as counselors for our February 2024 Brave Buddies Program. Brave Buddies is an intensive group behavioral treatment program designed to help children with Selective Mutism (SM) speak in school and other public places. Brave Buddies is offered as multi -day session twice a year, and as one -day session multiple times throughout the year. Counselors for this program are trained using behavioral therapy skills to work with children with SM in challenging activities, prompting them to use verbal responses and speak spontaneously as they play with other children and adults.

      The next Brave Buddies session will be held February 17 th -20 th . Program interns must be available for the preparation and training sessions, as well as the entirety of the program to be considered (exceptions will be made for religious observance).

      Program interns must be available at the following dates and times:

      Thursday February 8 th 9 30 AM-2 30 PM: Selective Mutism/Brave Buddies Intern Training

      Friday February 9 th 9AM-2PM: Selective Mutism/Brave Buddies Intern Training

      Thursday February 15 th 12-4PM : Brave Buddies Prep Sessions

      Friday February 16 th 12-4PM : Brave Buddies Prep Sessions

      Thursday February 15 th 4-6PM: Brave Buddies Prep Meeting

      Saturday February 17 th – Tuesday February 20 th 8AM-3PM: Brave Buddies

      Reporting to the Directors of the Selective Mutism program, this is an unpaid, part-time internship position located in our NYC headquarters office.
