      1.00 FTE

      100% effective August 1st, 2025

      Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Public School Administrators Association of Nova Scotia Agreement

      First Available to current Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education administrators who are currently members of PSAANS

      Second Available to all applicants who hold a valid Nova Scotia Teaching License, or are eligible for a Nova Scotia Teaching License

      Bridgetown Regional Community School is situated in Bridgetown, Annapolis County and it includes Grades primary (P) to twelve (12). The school has a projected 34.93 full time equivalent teaching positions and a projected enrollment of 483 students for the 2025-2026 school year. The Principal is expected to provide instructional leadership ensuring that the Public Schools Program and curriculum are implemented to maximize student learning. The Principal is also responsible for the orderly operation of the school. The Principal will be a member and will follow the PSAANS Terms and Conditions.

      Qualifications and Abilities:

      • Previous successful school administration experience is preferred.
      • Demonstrated successful instructional leadership is preferred.
      • Minimum of five (5) years exemplary teaching experience in a public school.
      • A Master’s of Education Degree in instructional/educational leadership or its equivalent is preferred preferred.
      • Computer literacy including experience with school administrative software is preferred.
      • Demonstrated excellent classroom management skills, considered an asset.
      • Demonstrated commitment to respect for diversity and social justice.
      • Excellent leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills/abilities.
      • Well-developed decision-making and creative problem-solving ability.
      • An equivalent combination of qualifications, abilities and experience may be considered.

      Responsibilities:

      • The Principal is responsible for the positive, safe, respectful learning and working environment for all stakeholders.
      • The Principal establishes a school-wide vision of commitment to high standards and academic success for all students.
      • The Principal provides leadership, cultivates leadership in others and manages people, data and processes.
      • The Principal must complete required documents as requested by the Centre for Education and/or the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
      • The Principal will identify staffing needs for the school and to assist in the selection of staff.
      • The Principal will take all reasonable steps to secure full and regular attendance at school of the students enrolled.
      • The Principal is responsible for and supervises school based staff. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the interests of the Centre for Education are maintained by participating with attendance management, performance management and addressing personnel matters.
      • The Principal supports professional growth through professional development planning and ongoing feedback.
      • The Principal ensures that appropriate evaluation techniques are used for both students and staff.
      • The Principal will monitor the maintenance of systems to handle organizational tasks such as student records, teacher records, attendance, purchasing, budgets and timetables.
      • The Principal ensures replacement staff are hired when necessary.
      • The Principal ensures the safety and security of the school.
      • The Principal will ensure maintenance of financial records and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
