      Breaking News Correspondent, China

      Reuters is looking for a journalist with strong news judgement and at least two years’ experience working in a news organisation to join our Greater China Breaking News Hub in Beijing. The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing team covering China breaking news across a range of topics and across the story cycle.

      The Breaking News Correspondent will be on the front lines of one of the most important, competitive and exciting stories of our time, and must be ready to quickly turn their hand to craft headlines and write newsbreaks and updates on any breaking news topic.

      About the Role

      In this opportunity as China Breaking News Correspondent, you will:

      --Monitor and gather news across a range of sources, mostly in Chinese, for developments in regulatory, economic, corporate, commodities and energy, political as well as general news

      --Use Chinese social media to identify and report stories on news and trends in China

      --Write fast and accurate headlines as well as stories under time pressure across a range of topics

      --Work with colleagues in Greater China and other countries across multiple areas of coverage

      About You

      You’re a fit for the role of Breaking News Correspondent, China if your background includes:

      --Have strong news judgement

      --Be able to filter quickly through complex information to identify and explain key news elements

      --Have fluent or native Mandarin and English, with strong English writing ability

      --Be a fast learner and team player with excellent communication and multi-tasking skills

      --Have at least two years’ experience working in news
