      Southeastern Paperboard is a growing and dynamic company with a dedicated in-house logistics department, Paper Logistics, Inc. We take pride in our commitment to efficiency, profitability, and maintaining a stable work environment for our team. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Brokerage & Backhaul Dispatch Specialist to join our expanding operations.

      This is a 1st shift salaried position. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must have the ability to answer occasional after-hours calls.

      As a Brokerage & Backhaul Dispatch Specialist at Paper Logistics, you will be responsible for the following:

      • Effectively communicate load details, rates, and relevant information to drivers and brokers.
      • Negotiating freight rates based on historical data, analysis of current market trends, and company profitability goals.
      • Identifying and analyzing lane and capacity imbalances to develop and implement effective resolutions.
      • Maintaining accurate records of all brokerage transactions and backhaul arrangements.
      • Serving as the primary point of contact for contracted backhaul customers, ensuring smooth operations and resolving any issues.
      • Assisting in identifying and maximizing the utilization of idle fleet capacity.
      • Identify empty lanes within our network and maintain a detailed tracking list to prioritize backhaul opportunities.
      • Collaborating with Fleet Management to understand and overcome any restrictions that may impact backhaul execution.
      • Proactively sourcing freight in specific markets by posting available equipment on load boards and leveraging broker networks.

      Qualifications:

      • Demonstrated ability to creatively problem-solve and develop effective solutions to logistical challenges
      • Must have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
      • Must possess a proven ability to negotiate effectively, with a track record of securing profitable freight rates.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.
      • 3+ years of previous experience in the Transportation Industry, specifically in dispatch or brokerage roles, is preferred.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with brokers, customers, drivers, and internal teams.
      • Prior experience working directly with Freight Brokers and understanding brokerage operations is preferred.
      • Prior experience with Toro, Samsara, DAT, MacroPoint, Carrier 411, and similar transportation management software is a plus
      • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (including spreadsheet management and basic formulas), and Outlook (email and calendar management).
