      Salary: $53,652 per year; $4,471 per month, BC-05, BU:01

      At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Building & Grounds Utility Worker is a valuable member of our team. This position will be responsible for assisting the Building Maintenance Worker, skilled building tradesman and grounds unit by performing assigned routine tasks in the maintenance and repair work incidental to the carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical trades, grounds and performs other duties as assigned.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences are credited based on a 40-hour work week.

      EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.

      LICENSURE: Current valid Hawaii State driver’s license, Type 3. EVIDENCE OF LICENSE AND ORIGINAL COPY OF TRAFFIC ABSTRACT is required with the application.

      KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, tools, equipment and materials used in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical maintenance work; general grounds keeping practices; occupational hazards and safety practices.

      ABILITY TO: Make minor repairs to electrical and plumbing fixtures; use hand tools utilized in a variety of building trades; operate and maintain power mowers; understand and follow oral and written instructions.

      Must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary, based on hospital operations (services are provided 24/7).

      MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
