      Job Summary:

      This position will be responsible for the delivery of Capital Improvement Projects, renewal, customer funded, and FMSG maintenance projects, assigned to the Unit. Duties will include, but not be limited to, initial meetings with customers, development of scopes of work, retention of consultants, review of construction documents, construction administration, submittal review, and project closeout. Additionally, responsible for project scheduling, establishing estimates of probable cost, reviewing pay applications, ensuring all project funding monies are spent within the proper time frames, ensuring compliance with procurement rules, requesting purchase orders, working in partnership with unit architects and designers, assisting in the advertisement of construction projects by the Procurement Office, and assisting in the selection of architects, engineers, and vendors. This position will also require the ability to utilize architectural AutoCad software to assist unit architects and designers to produce design drawings and architectural construction drawings for selected projects with the possession of basic building detailing and material understanding skills, and the ability to organize and apply Cad skills to existing FMSG Cad files. This position occasionally requires work outside of normal business hours and days, and requires occasional travel throughout the state of Arizona.

      This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

      Job Duties:

      Contract Administration of medium to large renovations, new constructions, and FMSG maintenance projects; scope of work, scheduling, budget control, estimating.

      Assist unit architects and designers with AutoCad drafting and design drawing development.

      Contract Administration of small projects.

      Direct vendors and review vendor provided designs.

      Execute business strategies implemented by ADOT leadership and identify "continuous improvement opportunities.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

      Knowledge of:

      Vertical construction means and methods

      Building systems understanding (structural, Mechanical and Production Engineering, information technology, civil, etc.)

      Understanding of construction trades and their responsibilities

      Understanding of construction materials, detailing, and finishes

      Architectural drafting and 2D drawing development

      Probable construction costs

      Construction project management

      Skills in:

      Strong written and oral communication skills

      Analyze and interpret technical data including building plans, specifications, site plans, reports, and observations

      Identify substandard and non-compliant workmanship, installations, and materials

      Use Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite to create and maintain reports and communications

      Proficient in using AutoCad to create drawings and manage drawing files

      Use of typical office equipment including computers, printers, plotters, etc

      Navigate computer networks to accomplish daily activities

      Excellent customer service skills

      Maintain professional and respectful demeanor in all interaction with coworkers, customers, and vendors

      Manage and interface with consultants in all phases of work

      Ability to:

      Assist unit architects and designers in developing drawings and construction documents

      Organize, plan, coordinate, and execute daily activities with little oversight to ensure timely completion of duties

      Establish priorities and show meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

      Analyze operating procedures and financial data

      Make adjustments in daily schedule to address unforeseen and emergency issues

      Contribute to "Continuous Improvement" efforts by identifying inefficiencies in current processes or procedures and offering solutions

      Read and understand construction plans and specifications

      Analyze construction problems and determine optimum solutions

      Manage multiple projects at one time

      Selective Preference(s):

      Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Architectural Project Management with 5 years experience in vertical construction project administration and/or design development. Or, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education that has provided comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

      Pre-Employment Requirements:

      Current Arizona Driver's License with an acceptable 39 month driving history.
