      The Town of Davie has transitioned to a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). Hours of work are Monday through Thursday either 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-6:00pm.

      Under general supervision, performs technical work associated with the review, checking and signing of all construction plans and correlating the approvals of plumbing inspection areas to assure compliance with the Florida Building Code. Is responsible for performing plumbing review and assisting in field inspections on a variety of plumbing installations. Reports to Building Official.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
      • Inspects plumbing installation projects so as to enforce the Florida Building code and related Town ordinances governing minimum standards and requirements of new installations, alterations, repairs and materials used.
      • Inspects plumbing projects to ensure compliance with approved plans and construction and safety practices, examines facilities for quality of design, materials and workmanship.
      • Assists and advises plumbers, contractors and others regarding plumbing regulations.
      • Checks plans and specifications for plumbing installations.
      • Maintains all necessary records and reports on inspections.
      • Performs inspections of new and existing residences, businesses and other buildings for conformance with codes and ordinances, issues inspection certificates for approved installation.
      • Confers with other inspectors and the Chief Plumbing Inspector on questions of departmental policies and other inspection problems.
      • Confers with contractors, architects, engineers and others regarding construction codes and plumbing installation plans.
      • May review and pass upon plans for plumbing installation and alterations.
      • Performs other related work as required.
      Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated):
      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
      • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED equivalency diploma.
      LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
      104.10.4. Certification of the Plumbing Plans Examiner. To be eligible for appointment as a Plumbing Plans Examiner, such person must hold the required licenses and/or certifications needed to also be certified by Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) as a Plumbing Plans Examiner.
      104.10.1.1 Such person shall be certified by Appeals BORA and shall meet at least one of the following qualifications:

      1. Such person shall be an Engineer in the discipline requested and having practiced for a minimum of five (5) years within the State of Florida.
      OR
      2. Be a Standard Plumbing Inspector serving for one ( 1 ) year for an AHJ or school board within the State of Florida AND who complies with the requirements to be certified by BORA as a Plumbing Inspector.
      • Possess a current active license issued by the State of Florida, Building Code and Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB) as a Standard Plumbing Plans Examiner and Standard Plumbing Inspector. (Engineers are exempt from BCAIB certification only.)
      • Possess a current Certificate of Competency or a Professional License in the discipline requested as a Master Plumber or Plumbing Contractor or Engineer issued by one of the following entities:
        • Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board.
        • Broward County Central Examining Board of Plumbers.
        • Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board.
        • Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
      • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
      NOTE :
      Required certifications and licenses must be kept current to continue employment in this position.

        • 100% paid by the Town for single coverage, 50% paid by the Town for dependents.
      • Schedule: 4 day work week – 10 hours per day (Monday-Thursday)
      • Leave:
        • Holidays – 13 days per year.
        • Sick Leave – 3.69 hours accrued per pay period
        • Vacation Leave – Accrue 2 weeks per year, accrual rate increases every 5 years (capped at 4 weeks after 10 years of service).
        • Birthday Leave – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation
        • Quality Service – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation and other conditions.
        • Wellness Days – 2 days per year after successfully passing probation.
      • Pension/Retirement:
        • Town Sponsored Pension – mandatory 3% contributions per pay period.
        • 457 Deferred Compensation Plan- Employee is entitled to make voluntary contributions through the payroll to the Town sponsored 457 deferred compensation plan only.
      • Uniforms: Provided by the Department.
