- Sweep and mop floors.
- Vacuums carpeted areas of the library on a rotational basis.
- Cleans and disinfects all restrooms.
- Replenishes supplies in restrooms, staff working areas and the break room.
- Collects and removes all garbage and recyclables from the building. Ensures that all garbage and recyclables are available for scheduled pick-ups.
- Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors.
- Dusts furniture and cleans hard surfaces.
- Responsible for spot cleaning of stains and for any emergency clean-up event that might occur.
- Maintains an inventory of needed supplies and reports any purchase needs to Library Administration.
- Moves couches, chairs, shelves and other furniture as needed.
- Changes light bulbs as needed throughout the facility.
- Performs set-up and break-down of meeting rooms as requested.
- Mows the lawn, trims shrubbery, pulls weeds, plants flowers.
- Waters plants inside and outside the building.
- Identifies and reports possible repairs or emergency maintenance issues to the Library Administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge and understanding of cleaning principles and chemistry.
- Ability to operate machinery and tools used to complete essential functions.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative and courteous working relationships with public, peers and supervisors.
- Demonstrated capacity to set priorities and manage time in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to follow detailed directions.
- Standing, walking, stooping, climbing, balancing using legs and feet, bending/twisting, reading and feeling.
- Sitting, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
- Talking and hearing on the telephone.
- Far vision at 20 feet or further; near vision at 20 inches or less.
- Lifting: up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Carrying: up to 20 pounds at a time.
- Pushing/pulling: up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Handling: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming.
- Climbing.
- Communication skills: effectively communicate ideas and information both in written and oral form.
- Reading ability: effectively read and understand information contained in memoranda, reports and bulletins.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions: effectively follow instructions from supervisors, both verbally and in written form.
- Mathematical ability: calculate basic arithmetic problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) without the use of a calculator.
- Time management: set priorities in order to meet assignment deadlines.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge, interpret technical regulations and instructions.

REPORTS TO:Library Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for providing cleaning services for all public and staff areas in the South Milwaukee Library to ensure that the facility is comfortable and clean for library users and staff.
The hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 7am-11 am. 20 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
