Job Responsibilities
Under immediate supervision, performs non-skilled tasks and manual building labor; strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors; washes windows; cleans restrooms; shovels snow; empties trash. Maintains interior and exterior cleanliness and condition of various on-site locations.
1. As part of a Maintenance team maintains interior cleanliness of facilities; strips, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors; dusts and polishes furniture; vacuums and spot clean carpeting; collects trash and hauls from building to trash receptacle; washes windows and woodwork; cleans drinking fountains and restrooms including toilets, sinks, showers and all associated fixtures and fills towel, soap and tissue dispensers.
2. Performs exterior maintenance of facilities; sweeps, cleans, and shovels snow from walkways as needed. Operates government motor vehicle and/or power equipment for lawn maintenance and snow removal on facility grounds. Mows lawns with push and/or riding mower, rakes leaves, trims vegetation and cares for landscaping. Keeps the outside premises neat and orderly.
3. Performs preventative maintenance on lawn care equipment, i.e., push & riding mowers, weed eaters, etc., replaces light bulbs, as needed; spot paints; changes and cleans mechanical unit filter, makes minor repairs to facilities plumbing, mechanical and electrical fixtures.
4. Stores and keeps inventory of supplies and equipment. Notifies supervisor when supply inventory is low. Operates government motor vehicle to transport maintenance supplies and equipment to various on-site locations and locations within the assigned service area.
5. Loads and unloads truck, set up and takes down tables, chairs, etc.; moves office furniture; Lifts and carries moderate to heavy items up to 80lbs on a recurring basis.
6. Performs building security duties such as checking for leaks, fires, vagrants, and prowlers; checks condition and security of facilities windows, doors, gates, and other controlled access points.
7. Assists in the firing of a low pressure boiler, cleans flues and keeps boiler room clean; performs visual check of boiler, hot water tank and pipes to ensure insulation is sound and report incidents of damaged, loose or fallen insulation material; monitors boiler, checks for leaks, operating water level boiler blow down, and maintains adequate levels of boiler chemical in make up water.
8. Performs additional duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties indicated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Prefers elementary knowledge of grounds/building maintenance and building cleaning methods
2. Prefers common understanding and basic experience using elementary computer software.
3. Prefers the ability to follow simple oral and written instructions, as well as instructions provided in graphical flow charts.Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
2. Requires statewide travel as part of a Maintenance Team within the normal workday hours
3. Requires the ability to lift and carry heavy boxes, supplies, furniture and equipment 80 pounds.
4. Requires the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes
5. Requires exposure to a variety of chemical cleaning agents.
6. Requires physical ability to perform duties as assigned.
7. Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license.About The Agency/Bureau/Program
